The WMG centre HVM Catapult is home to two UK centres of excellence in Lightweight Technologies and Energy Storage and Management. They have expanded their expertise in related areas including autonomous vehicles, electric machines and power electronics. These have been highlighted by the Automotive Council as key areas for the UK automotive industry to develop to be globally competitive. They connect industry and academia through conducting applied research. They have a strong track record in working with the motorsport industry, using their state-of-the-art facilities for testing and characterisation of electric and hybrid vehicles.
